  9. This provides current code for the "remote lookup" functions in a relatively
  10. small kit, for use by those who have not yet downloaded the larger FWKCS(TM)
  11. system package (current FWKCS release: FWKCS121.ZIP). The version of
  12. FWKCS.EXE contained in this kit has been revised since the last prior
  13. release.

  15. You can use the remote Lookup to help find the missing files that go with a
  16. single file you have, by doing a remote Lookup and calling the giant BBS's
  17. that run FWKCS(TM). For example, if you want to find the .DOCs that go with
  18. a program, there's a good chance that Lookup and a call to those giant BBS's
  19. will find for you the name of the zipfile which contains that whole set of
  20. files.  Even if the name of the file you have was changed, Lookup can still
  21. be used.  Then, just download that whole zipfile...

  23. If you are a BBS operator, Lookup helps you use tens of Gigabytes of
  24. collected files to support your users's special requests. Your BBS users
  25. can call you locally at low speed -- you use your high_speed modem to get
  26. what they needed -- letting you devote more of your resources to the kinds
  27. of files you especially want to work with. Then, if you run FWKCS(TM), you
  28. could become a preferred resource for that special area of work that you
  29. like. As a specialist in your own area, you can prepare automatic FWKCS
  30. cross references to help guide BBS users in finding conceptually related
  31. files.

  35. To keep FWKCS.EXE relatively small, some help is provided via text
  36. files, FWKCS121.H0n, n = 0...5.  FWKCS.EXE can search for them in the
  37. current directory and on your path. So, if you put FWKCS.EXE on your
  38. path, preferably keep these text files in the same directory with it.
  39. FWKCS <enter> brings up a list of commands for further help.

  41. The extended help (option /** ) uses FWKCS121.REF, which, for reasons of
  42. size, is not included in this kit.

  44. Note:  FWKCS(TM) has many features not supported in this kit -- this kit is
  45. intentionally kept small to serve your special needs in using remote Lookup.
